Isle of Sky Nursery & Botanical Garden Philosophy

The Plant Nursery and Demonstration Botanical Garden is near the ghost town of White Oaks, Lincoln County, New Mexico. At an elevation of 6,480 feet, conditions are harsh due to extreme clay soil on a rocky slope shaded by pinion and juniper trees.

The Nursery is unique in that the plants we offer for sale are all grown in the garden which is open to the public for viewing during regular Nursery hours or by appointment. When visitors are able to view the parent plants in a natural garden setting it is very helpful in making decisions on what plants are right for personal garden and growing conditions.

We only use and recommend the essential inputs, soil building supplements, fertilizer nutrients and plant protectants which are proven at the Nursery. These products are the most advanced sustainable science available today. We also stock state of the art growing media, many useful growing supplies and organic pest and disease control essentials.

Our mission is to help you achieve your dreams of growing your own food and herbs for a healthy and sustainable life.

We are working to preserve our vast historical diversity of DNA which will be critical to mankind for future food plant development. We are especially taking note of the many heirloom plants that are quickly able to adapt and survive our challenging and everchanging high desert conditions and actually produce a useable crop.
